When those in the public spotlight go missing, communities far and wide descend into panic. The media rolls into town, setting up outside the missing persons last known location, interviewing friends, family, and coworkers. And that's exactly what happened when these notable folks went missing. To this day, no one is quite sure what happened to them.

Harold Holt

On December 17, 1967, the Australian Prime Minister went with four friends to Portsea, Victoria, for a little rest and relaxation. He begged his friends for a swim at a particularly rough beach and disappeared when a rip current pulled him out to sea. Australia launched a wide-scale rescue mission, but his body was never recovered.

Richey Edwards

In the mid-1990s, the Manic Street Preachers' guitarist Richey Edwards was on his way to huge rock success. He was a fantastic musician and songwriter, pretty to look at, and acclaimed by fans and critics alike. Before a planned trip to the United States, the musician disappeared from his hotel room, and his car was found abandoned on a bridge. To this day, no one knows what happened to him.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery

The Little Prince stands out as one of history's most successful children's books, but few people know that its author, Antoine de Saint-Exupery vanished while serving as a World War II pilot. On his tenth mission, on July 31, 1944, he disappeared in the skies above the Mediterranean. His plane was found in 2000, but his body wasn't recovered.

Hale Boggs

A democrat Congressman from Louisiana, Boggs was one of the men tasked with investigating the assassination of JFK. As a House Majority Leader, he raised funds for other campaigning Democrats, which was why he boarded a flight for Juneau, Alaska, in 1972. While in flight, the plane disappeared, and Boggs was never seen again.
